Wow what a weekend last in New Orleans with Trikke Tech trainer Fred Welch and Southbay Trikkes' Andy Pliska sharing his expertise to enlighten us all in the world of Trikke.
The setting was perfect in the Maisons St. Charles in the Garden District uptown New Orleans for the first day of tech training with Andy going over in detail all the things to watch for in wear and maintenance to assembly and proper setup as per individual rider. Andy and Fred with the new carvers they had shipped in gave us the opportunity forhands on assembly and troubleshooting so detailed that all of us felt confident attacking any problem with any carving vehicle.
The second day conducted mainly outside consisted mainly of evaluation of our riding skills by
fred as he ran us through a series of drills and exercises designed to make you much more aware of where you are on the vehicle while riding and the various way of manipulating the carving vehicle for different manuevers while maintaining control ...what an eye opener!! Believe me there is much more to a Trikke than just figuring out how to make it move forward, Fred is bad to the bone by the way and I just know he is going to blow our mind tomorrow when we go to the levee for hill training.
Sunday we headed to the levee a few miles down St. Charles past Loyola U and a part of a New Orleans neighborhood that led me finally to see why one would stay. Any way we had a little problem finding the place so we showed up as everyone else was climbing the levee and me thinking this is going to be a piece of cake! Was I ever mistaken! That was not the incline he planned to use to school us, ours was l little further down and much steeper more so than what they use in Buellton Fred says! This slope does not look to steep as I stand on top but then I cruise to the bottom... ok, now this can not be the same hill I just came down! Man this sucker is steep and I live in Northwest Arkansas and yes there are many hills here I have to climbed but I have mastered most all where I ride! So after Fred gives each of us some tips and one on one attention he drops to the bottom on a T8 air and proceeds to boogie right up the hill with seemingly very little effort! All I can say is it was quite humbling!
The fact is I walked away from the training armed with my new tools given us by Fred and Andy and now feel confident I can assist anyone in their quest to master riding a 3 wheeled carving vehicle by Trikke and watch as those unwanted pounds melt away with excercise disguised as fun!
Carve Diem!! GottaHave1
